Myself and David don’t get out often, just the two of us I mean. So when we do we like to go for food. Firstly because we love food and secondly because when you have a child with a food allergy and can only ever eat out at Mcdonalds, we jump at the chance to eat something different.
*Disclaimer*, I haven’t eaten at all of these places but I have been asking around and these places were recommended a few times. They are all on our list of places to eat when we get a chance for a date night.
So if you have a ‘Date Night’ coming up or you fancy a bit of inspo and you love food, this could be the post for you.
I remember The Salutation Pub from my younger days when they used to have bands playing upstairs, I loved it, it was great. Now fast forward 20 years and everyone I seem to see lately can’t stop raving about it, it has a Thai restaurant upstairs called Thai at the Sal, which is so good and the whole pub has a warm lovely atmosphere. On TripAdvisor it says they cater for vegetarians and vegans and they have some amazing reviews. I can’t wait to go back and see how it has changed.
This place looks so nice, if you like Indian food you should definitely check this place out. Their menu is fantastic and they do a Sunday roast menu too. Also on a Sunday they do a mixed grill challenge, it’s £25pp but if you eat it all within 1 hour you get a full refund, sounds fun doesn’t it. They do cocktails and mocktails plus a full drinks menu. Make sure you are dressed smart as they have a strict smart dress code. The menu caters for vegetarians.
Now this is something very special, Doncaster’s only supper club. Michael Price opens up his home to diners and delivers them with a 6 course meal. Guests are encouraged to interact with each other and you can even bring your own wine. They do 1 supper club per month, if you don’t follow their facebook page go over and check them out. They post when the phone lines are open for bookings, go read some of the comments, people ring hundreds even thousands of times in hope of getting a table, that’s how amazing and popular this place is. I would love to be one of the lucky people one day. Here’s their website The Gourmet Kitchen.
This is Michael Price’s other venture, he is the co founder of Clam & Cork a new seafood bar. This is based right in the middle of the vibrant Doncaster fish market, you can get a warm salmon salad and Champagne just as one example of what’s on offer. They have a full menu and this is really one of a kind. So if you are wanting a day date this is perfect. It is open Tuesday – Saturday 10-4pm and on a Wednesday it opens earlier at 8am.
I think most of Doncaster have been or certainly heard of Relish, I had to put this place in because I love it. My fave is the chicken fajitas. They have live music on every Thursday too and it’s a great atmosphere. Everything I have seen from their menu looks scrummy. Definitely one to check out, I’m sure you will enjoy and go back time after time like I do.
So that’s it thank you for reading! It was so difficult only choosing 5 as Doncaster has so many nice places to eat.
