It’s been 8 days since we found out we are pregnant and already we know we’re having a girl. I know, you think we’re crazy but let me explain…
We found out last Monday, 29th October, I shouldn’t forget as it was just after visiting my dad on his birthday. Today it’s Tuesday, 6th November, 8 days later. In these 8 days, Donetta has left the sofa maybe twice. That might be a slight exaggeration but she has literally been knocked out for 6 or 7 days now.
You’ve all heard of morning sickness but when the morning lasts for 7 straight days it’s taking the piss! She’s been throwing up non-stop and has eaten next to nothing. She’s been feeling so bad we’ve had to get her to the doctors today.
It’s obviously spoilt this first week of finding out really, she had a bit of morning sickness with Corben but nothing like this, it’s been awful for her.
The doctor has given her some medication to try out after revealing her blood pressure was through the roof and she has a very high level of ketones which isn’t good at all! Having a high level of ketones increases the risk of miscarriage, so it’s pretty scary how ill Donetta has become, it’s more than just morning sickness. The problem she now has is that she needs to eat to help her recovery, as well as the fact that we humans need food! But, every time she eats she throws up! It’s catch 22.
As I’m writing this in the evening she’s only been able to take one dose of the medication so it’s far too early to know if it’s going to work. Hopefully, by tomorrow night we will have a better idea of whether she’s perked up a little.
It’s thrown us a little and scuppered our chances of having any form of conversation about the fact we’re having a baby! Donetta hasn’t been able to eat and adding that to the illness she’s been out of it and hardly able to talk.
Aside from holding down the fort and pretending to many of you reading this now that Donetta is just having a week off poorly, I think it’s started to sink in a little more. It’s also dawned on us that Donetta had exactly the same start to both pregnancies with the girls, but not Corben.
Donetta was convinced that Corben was a boy down to the start of her pregnancy. She had the ‘normal’ morning sickness but nothing major, which was very different from the girls. This time it’s back to being completely wiped out and having an awful start to the pregnancy meaning we’re convinced our baby will be a girl.
As usual with this LIVE REACTION series of blogs, this is more of a diary style entry in a rambled fashion, but I wanted to get things down as they happen to look back on in the future. It’s mad to think it’s probably 2019 as you’re reading this and I’m still here in November 2018 eagerly waiting to reveal to the world that WE’RE PREGNANT!
It’s been a terrible week in all honesty and that’s all there is to update. Hopefully, the next entry will be much more positive. Right now, all I can think about is how to help Donetta recover from this dreadful week where she’s lost a stone in weight, it can’t be good for the baby.
THANKS FOR READING MY PREGNANCY LIVE REACTION SERIES OF BLOG POSTS. I’M GOING TO CONTINUE THIS SERIES THROUGHOUT OUR PREGNANCY JOURNEY TO CAPTURE AS MANY RAW EMOTIONS AND THOUGHTS AS I CAN AS IT ALL UNFOLDS. THERE WILL BE YOUTUBE VIDEOS TOO OVER ON DAVID AND DONETTA.
