5 BABY GENDER PREDICTION METHODS PUT TO THE TEST!

5 BABY GENDER PREDICTION METHODS PUT TO THE TEST!

There’s some talk out there that boiled cabbage water, baking soda and piss, can determine the gender of your baby. Well let’s find out shall we!

We had a quick search online for any DIY methods we could test to find out the gender of our baby. There’s some weird and wonderful methods out there and we found 5 very different tests to try out.

At the time of testing we were 15 weeks and 2 days pregnant, I’ve no idea how much that matters but we did read some of these methods won’t work until you’re at least 12 weeks.

In this blog we will give you the info on each method and the outcome for us, but if you’d prefer to watch our tests instead then you’re in luck!

5  BABY GENDER PREDICTION METHODS PUT TO THE TEST!

METHOD 1 – The Cabbage Theory

I don’t know the official theory names so I’m making them up.

Anyway, you need a red cabbage and some urine. The theory is, you chop some of the cabbage up and boil it in some water. Once the water has turned a dark purple colour you then need to wait for it to cool down. (I don’t know if specific temperatures matter, it’s not like this shit is scientifically proven is it!) Once you have some cooled down dark purple cabbage water, you then add your urine to it.

If the water stays the same colour, a dark purple/blue then it’s a GIRL!

If the water turns to a pink/red colour then you’re having a BOY!

OUR RESULT – GIRL

METHOD 2 – Chinese Gender Prediction

This one is pretty simple. We used momjunction.com and their Chinese Gender Prediction tool. All you have to do is enter your date of birth and the date of conception and it tells you immediately what gender your baby will be.

I mean, it’s as good a guess as you’ll get isn’t it?

METHOD 3 – The Nub Theory

To be fair, if there’s ever a DIY theory that makes sense, it’s this one. It’s the only one that actually uses your scan photo and has some scientific backing. Still, I’m sceptical.

I also have no idea how to word how this theory works, so I’m sending you somewhere else… The Nub Theory!

It’s basically the angle of your babies body at a certain point on the scan picture. After looking into it a little and speaking with a few other parents online, not one person has suggested our baby would be a boy, therefore there’s only one outcome from this theory too.

OUR RESULT – GIRL

METHOD 4 – Ring On A String

This one is a really popular one and easy to do. Get your wedding ring (Or any ring I guess if you’re not married, how does the theory even know?!) and either a piece of string or a strand of your hair, loop it through your ring and dangle it over your pregnant belly.

If the ring starts to move in a circular motion, it’s a GIRL!

If the ring starts to move back and forth/side to side in a pendulum like motion, it’s a BOY!

OUR RESULT – GIRL

METHOD 5 – Baking Soda

Another really popular baby gender prediction method. You just mix the same amount of baking soda/powder with your urine. More piss! (See video)

If it froths and bubbles it’s a BOY!

If it does little to nothing, it’s a GIRL!

OUR RESULT – BOY!

FINAL RESULT – GIRL 4-1 BOY

From the 5 baby gender prediction methods we put to the test, we gained an almost definitive answer of GIRL. So the next time I’m in Asda there’s very little point in looking at the baby boy section, I mean baking soda was the only BOY result and it was pissed up, literally.

We’re convinced we’re having a girl, based on the pregnancy so far. It’s identical to the previous pregnancies of both girls and completely different to Corben’s pregnancy. So maybe these methods do have some truth in them as 4 of them agree with our early signs too.

We’d love to hear your predictions and if you have any experience testing out these baby gender prediction methods…
