Vlogging at Christmas is the obvious answer, but where did it start, how do people do it and what’s the truth behind vlogging every day for a whole month?
Hello and welcome back to The David and Donetta Blog! Today we’re discussing all the ins and outs of Vlogmas.
In short, Vlogmas is where Vloggers/YouTubers upload a video every single day in December, or at least up until Christmas day. The general theme of the videos is to get your audience in the festive spirit and take them along your journey of Christmas preparation. Come shop with me, gift guides, general Christmas chatter and anything else you can put a festive spin on.
Or, of course, you can just simply daily vlog.
Vlogmas started in 2010/2011 and the phenomenon has grown rapidly ever since. We’ve decided to get involved this year, 2019 and bring you all as much festive Christmassy content as we can. We’re kicking off with a podcast episode where we discuss the title of this very blog post, ‘What Is Vlogmas?’ and discuss all the pros and cons that surround it.
You can watch the episode HERE > What Is Vlogmas?

Our main reason for getting involved is to simply get back into the swing of creating content. The best bit about Vlogmas is that it forces you to create content daily and throws you right in at the deep end. Once you’ve committed to your audience that you’ll be serving up daily content throughout the month, you have to deliver. After about 7 weeks off, Vlogmas is a great way to end the year dusting off the cobwebs and shaking off any rustiness ready for the new year ahead.
Of all the good things, of which there are many, there are also several ‘cons’ to Vlogmas and we discuss them all in the episode. The hard work, the constant hunt for ideas and the fact that it feels like EVERYONE else is doing Vlogmas too can all be off-putting.
